PostSubject: How to PC in Flipchat1   26/9/2014, 06:27

Hey everyone!  Thank you for your interest in pcing for Flipchat1! It is great to see so many people willing to pricecheck. Pricecheckers keep Flipchat1 active and help everyone make money!

In this guide I will be going through how to update the margins, how to handle different scenerios, and how to be an all around successful pricechecker!

You MUST use the last post on the forums when you pc, as these are the most recent margins! If you do not it will result in loss of money for the fc!

**Reminder** Nib/Nis means that the item has actually bought/sold! DO NOT REPORT IF THE ITEM HAS NOT BOUGHT/SOLD YET!

MAKE SURE YOU POST YOUR MARGINS ON THE FORUMS WHEN YOU ARE DONE PCING, OTHERWISE YOUR PCING WILL BE POINTLESS!

You will need to know what items we pricecheck, and which lines they belong to! Listed below are all of the lines, which items are in them, and abbreviations for each item:

Bandos Line (Bline)

  • Bh- Bandos Helmet
  • Bcp- Bandos Chestplate
  • Bt/Tass- Bandos Tassets
  • Bg- Bandos Gloves
  • Bb- Bandos Boots
  • Bws- Bandos Warshield

Armadyl Line (Aline):

  • Ah- Armadyl Helmet
  • Acp- Armadyl Chestplate
  • Acs- Armadyl Chainskirt
  • Ag- Armadyl Gloves
  • Ab- Armadyl Boots
  • Acb- Armadyl Crossbow
  • Oacb- Off-Hand Armadyl Crossbow
  • Buck- Armadyl Buckler

Subjugation Line (Sline/Sub line):

  • Sh- Hood of Subjugation
  • Garb- Garb of Subjugation
  • Gown- Gown of Subjugation
  • Sg- Gloves of Subjugation
  • Sb- Boots of Subjugation
  • Ward- Ward of Subjugation

Amulets:

  • Hiss- Saradomin's Hiss
  • Murm- Saradomin's Murmur
  • Whisp- Saradomin's Whisper

Anima Core - Seren

  • Serh - Anima Core Helm of Seren
  • Serb - Anima Core Body of Seren
  • Serl - Anima Core Legs of Seren

Anima Core - Sliske

  • Slih - Anima Core Helm of Sliske
  • Slib - Anima Core Body of Sliske
  • Slil - Anima Core Legs of Sliske

Anima Core - Zamorak

  • Zamh - Anima Core Helm of Zamorak
  • Zamb - Anima Core Body of Zamorak
  • Zaml - Anima Core Legs of Zamorak

Anima Core - Zaros

  • Zarh - Anima Core Helm of Zaros
  • Zarb - Anima Core Body of Zaros
  • Zarl - Anima Core Legs of Zaros

GWD2 Weapons

  • Mhsg/Ohsg - Shadow Glaive/Off-hand Shadow Glaive
  • Lance - Dragon rider lance
  • Avaryss - Blade of Avaryss
  • Nymora - Blade of Nymora
  • Cywir - Wand of the Cywir Elders

Now you must get set-up to pricecheck. This means that you take the margins from the last pcer (the last post in the "margins" thread) and pasting them into a word document or notepad. Then i normally put the margins on the side of the screen so it is visible while I'm playing, so I don't have to click back and forth! After you're setup you're ready to pc!

G A Z Z A made a guide on how to pc using Runescape Companion, which makes it infinitely times easier! I use it every time I pc!   [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

I will be using the following margin for each scenario:
Bb: 1125-1300

Scenario #1- Giving a margin

Spoiler:

Scenario #2- Buying/Selling at the margin in under 15 minutes

Spoiler:

Scenario #3- Buying/Selling at the margin in over 15 minutes

Spoiler:

Scenario #4- Changing the margin after someone USES the rule

Spoiler:

Scenario #5- Instant buys and Instant sells

Spoiler:

Scenario #6- Instant buys and Instant sells (without a confirm)

Spoiler:

Scenario #7- Dealing with all kinds of cuts!

Spoiler:

Scenerio #8- Conflicts

Spoiler:

FAQ:

Does a pcer have to give line?

NO! Lines, if not on companion, can be very draining and require a lot of attention. It is the pcers choice to do lines or not! If anyone give you any problems for saying no lines, the will be dealt with. Wink

What if I don’t know how to change a margin?

Read this, it explains it! But if you still have questions, ask any of the kranks (people with stars)! Kranks have earned their ranks through pcing, so they know how to do it! This also means that if a krank tells you to change a margin, you should do it.

What if I am worried that someone is manipulating the margins?

If you are worried, ask a krank and they should be able to tell. Do not call them out on it in the fc, it will cause a whole big commotion and it will be bad. Just ask one of the kranks if you can ask them something, then say something like, “I think Player 1 is giving suspicious reports”. Then a krank will deal with it!

What if there is no krank on when I want to pc for the first time?

This might not be a good idea. You could mess up the margins and not even know it! A lot of the kranks check over people’s changes, especially on their first time, so it would be good to have one on. Kranks are on almost the whole time, so this probably wont even be an issue!

What if someone pms me a report/asks for a margin?

Please do not give margins outside of the fc and do not accept reports that are not posted in the fc. This can lead to manipulation through the reports and we do not want our margins given to people outside of the fc as people could be taking them.

The buy and sell price is the same! What should I do?

A reason for this is that it could be the margins are small, or when the item isn't being reported enough so it's not updated enough to have the full accurate price. Try and get updates for this sort of thing as soon as possible, whether that means you flipping the item or asking someone in the channel to flip it.

This may seem overwhelming, but I assure you it is not as hard as it sounds! I find it relaxing actually, and only rarely does it get overwhelming. If you are curious about pcing and still have question, ask a krank in the friends chat or reply to this guide! Thank you again for your interest in pricechecking!

I was told by Niall to remove the *'s when I was Pc'ing which indicated an updated or confirmed margin.

Yet half the time I look in the Margins post for today OR when people PC they use *'s.

So is that no longer a thing or did Niall just impose his personal prefernces on me?

@flashmigma1 - Good question. *'s are put next to prices on the forum to indicate that price has been updated and/or confirmed and this is explained to FC1 members by putting an indicator at the top of the margins post which should say something like "* = Updated/Confirmed".

It shouldn't be used when pc'ing in-game as it can cause confusion, would clog the chat when people have to keep asking what it means and, depending on how the * is used, it can mess up the entire word being written and cause it to "star out".

EG - BG 1000-1200* could become BG 1000-*****

This is of course, just an example, and if the * is used correctly that may not happen. But for the sake of keeping things simple it is better to just not use a * when pc'ing in-game.

Hope this explains it ok Smile

@freezexez - Feel free to PM a rank or pc'er in-game if you have any questions about pc'ing or anything else FC1-related Smile

Should you give 2 or more lines to the same person back to back?  Also, what if someone constantly asks for different items without giving a single report?

we cant force ppl to report, so even if they dont report still give them the requested items
and about the 2 lines, every1 has only 6 ge slots so 2 lines isnt neccesary for them to ask.
i personally always ask hy some1 needs 2 lines and depending on the awnser i react to it
most common awnsers ive seen are.

cause i want to see which are mot profitable  > my awnser they are all profitable so 1 line only
ive got items in ge for both lines > my awnser, then ask for those specific items
i want to flip both tops/legs > my awnser then ask for those item then instead of the full lines

and just more of those, as pcer i see it my "job" to teach them how to help the pcer (in that case urself) do his "job". hopefully this helped you with your questions.

stretches are updated as if it are normal reprots illl showw in 2 examples

the pc of gown is 2000-2200 some1 reports

example 1 > nib gown 1950 25min (stretch) time is more then 15min meaning  new margin will become gown 1950-2200

example 2 > nib gown 1950 5 min (stretch) time is less then 15 min meaning you  should stretch pc even more, gown update should be gown 1925-2200

example 3 > nib gown 1950 40min (stretch) time is more then 30min meaning time is to long margin should be made smaller for optimal profit. gown update should be 1975-2200

hopefully this explains everything about adjusting prices when a margin is stretched

and margins with 1-50 are updated as normal

so if you get a report nib bws 25 rx1 10min it would remain 1-50.
if time is between 15-30min margin gets updated to 25-50
and if its longer then 30min margin would become 50-50 meaning the buyer probably needs to try to stretch the sell for a profit.

PostSubject: Re: How to PC in Flipchat1   17/7/2015, 19:19

Hey guys I'm a new PCer in flipchat1 and I had a bit of an issue today. A player kept reporting numbers strangely and I didnt know what I should do EX:

Margin 1225 - 1425
Player reports nib 1261
^ no rule or minutes are given here and he is clearly not using the rule properly because he's given multiple reports that aren't multiples of 25.

Should I round the 1261 to 1275 and assume he used the rule  twice?
And what about minutes? I asked him to report properly so I knew rx and mins but he kept reporting his way.

Thanks for the help!

when ppl cut and report properly you can round to the nearest 25k incredement.
when ppl cut but dont report properly (so no rule time used) you can just ignore the report.

I've got some questions before I want to start PCing:
Can I (when I am PCing) use my own reports to change a margin?
Can I (when I am not PCing) update margins using player reports on the forum only?
If I encounter a player report with an is/ib which is off-margin, should I always consider that a lucky one?
Can a player interfere with the decision of a PCer considering players ib/is a lucky one?
How long's a PCing session? (Any rules/guidelines for that?)

Hey Maagwand Smile

Sorry it's taken so long to post a reply to this, but hopefully you'll find the following information useful!

"Can I (when I am PCing) use my own reports to change a margin?"
-Yes! As long as you're reporting them in the FC just before you update then it's fine! And the nice thing is, you'll be making profit while you PC Very Happy

"Can I (when I am not PCing) update margins using player reports on the forum only?"
-Yes, other ranks occasionally do this too. It's best to do so at times when there have been 2+ hours without a PC'er, or when there are a lot of reports on the forum to use. If you do this, be sure to let the FC know that it's been updated Smile

"If I encounter a player report with an is/ib which is off-margin, should I always consider that a lucky one?"
-Personally I prefer to take ALL reports into account. Every time I've encountered a "lucky buy/sell", I've always followed up by trying to buy/sell for the same price and it has worked. Even if the price is only going to change to that price temporarily, it's up to us to keep track of that price. It's not up to us to decide whether it's going to be temporary or not. So I would update using these "lucky" inb/ins reports. Others disagree and suggest that it's better to get it confirmed first by another player buying/selling at the same "lucky" price. It's up to you which method you'd be more comfortable using Smile

"Can a player interfere with the decision of a PCer considering players ib/is a lucky one?"

-The only players who can overturn the decision of a PC'er or request the PC'er changes the way they're updating would be those ranked Lieutenant or above ("kick-ranks"). Otherwise, all final decisions are made by the PC'er. If you have a complaint or question about the way a PC'er is updating, it's always best to contact a rank in-game or post on the forums.

"How long's a PCing session? (Any rules/guidelines for that?)"

-We appreciate all PC'ing! So if you're PC'ing for 5 minutes or 5 days, it's all fantastic stuff to be doing Smile The shortest I've seen so far is less than a minute. The current record for the longest PC'ing session is held by Fae Kudu, who PC'd non-stop for 36 hours! He likes to remind us of this epic achievement every now and then lol XD

Regarding reports of buys/sells taking longer than 30 mins what is the correct way to update the margins? Let me put an example:
Bcp margin is 3350-3800, following report comes:
Nib Bcp 3400 rx2 ~1 hour.

Should the new margin be:
A) 3400-3800 (as it buys at 3400 that is the current margin even though it may take a while)
B) 3375-3800 (similar to what was posted by dvah earlier in this thread)

I have seen pc'ers do both, but which is preferable?

Hey Cnidarian Smile

I personally would update the price to 3400. The reason I would do this is because the price was first adjusted to 3375 and did not buy, but the item did buy at 3400.

Hope this answers your question,

Oh, I just realised my option B should have been 3425-3800 instead - my mistake. Does this change your answer? Of course it should never become 3375-3800 with that report Smile

3425 would also be correct, as it took longer than 30 minutes, but 3400 is highly preferred.
