PostSubject: translating the rules and starter guide   translating the rules and starter guide Empty25/11/2014, 14:34

despite the chat being an english chat many of the users are from other counties and dont always speak english too well, i think it would be a good idea to translate the starter guide and rules to a few other commonly spoken languages just to make it that bit easier for them and that less tedious for us pcers and ranks to exaplin again and again without being properly understood. i can, and would be happy to translate them to french but i propose also doing it in spanish, dutch, and german and maybe some other languages either on request or just because its needed. :-) hope someone thinks this is a good idea

Sorry for the late response. I like this idea, but I'm not sure how it would be implemented. French like you said could be done by you, but we'd probably need to check it over before adding it to make sure it doesn't say anything negative (Although I'm sure with all the work you've put into the fc you would not do this). We also would probably have trouble doing Spanish and German (Tim might speak German but I don't know). Dl Dantastic and WATPHO both speak dutch (I believe), so they could do that language. However, this would all depend on whether they wanted to put the work into this (as a lot of them are in school still). I will ask the other ranks about this and how beneficial they think it would be (I don't believe anyone has commented on it).

Thanks for the suggestion!

Hi there Smile,

The reason why this probably won't happen is because if people are going to translate this than we have to translate it correctly(which is a pain ....) so we can make sure that users don't put weird words/sentences in the translations.

Though, we may consider this.

if we will even do this, something i highly doubt, then all translations, needs to be checked by higher ranks from the fc so probably kickranks and above.
and sofar i know, we only will be able to speak english, german and dutch

And Czech ;D - though not many people in our chat actually SPEAK Czech - so ya lol

The majority of our users are English, Dutch, German, French or Polish speakers. I know there are a number of Scandinavians as well (We once had 2 Scandinavian Kick Ranks) But I think the Primary three languages spoken here are English, Dutch and German.

Okay, thank you all very much for wanting to help us translate the starters guide, but we can only use translations that can be checked by higher ranks to make sure they are correct. So this means we can only have a Dutch guide and a French guide, so aeonysis, if you send me a translation of the starters guide in French, I would be happy to take a look at it. (will be after 18 december). Again thank you very much!

Hey. We don't have a lot of Hungarians and Romanians flipping and stuff but, Hungarian is my native while the romanian is my second language (english comes third, yes) So if you ever need translating the guide, I'll do it Smile
